Visit Shore History to experience an Art Show on the Lawn at Ker Place on June 13th from 11am - 3pm during the weekend of Onancock’s Sail250 schedule of events. Entries include artwork submitted by ESVA students Grades 6-12 and other local artists. who were asked the question: “What Does Americas 250th Mean to Me?”
Guests will have the opportunity to purchase the artwork and to vote for ‘Best in Show’ and ‘Favorite Artist.’
Additionally, the Ker Place House Museum will be open with a docent available for tours from 11am-3pm.
Shore History is proud to recognize the winners of its student art challenge, "Through the Artist's Eye: 250 Years of America on the Eastern Shore of Virginia," ribbons were awarded at a reception at Ker place on May 20th.
More than 45 students from four Eastern Shore schools participated in the challenge, which invited students in grades 6–12 to answer the question, "What does America's story mean to you?" Using the Eastern Shore as their inspiration and lens, students created original works in pencil, paint, photography, clay, and mixed media that explored themes of history, community, patriotism, landscape, family, and identity. "The body of work is inspirational," said Shore History Executive Director, Hilary Hartnett-Wilson, "These students captured America's story and the spirit of the Eastern Shore in ways that are both personal and deeply meaningful. We are honored to celebrate this historic milestone through the eyes of our young artists."

The student artwork will be featured during the Onancock Sails Forward Art Show on the Lawn at historic Ker Place on Saturday, June 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The exhibition is part of the Eastern Shore's participation in the nationwide celebration of America's 250th anniversary.
Visitors will have the opportunity to view and purchase student artwork while also casting votes for special People's Choice awards, including Best in Show and Favorite Artist. The outdoor exhibition will showcase the creativity and talent of local youth while highlighting their unique perspectives on America's past, present, and future.
