From Grape to Glass

25.00

This program will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Ker Place, 69 Market Street in Onancock. Tickets are available for $25 each at shorehistory.org/ticketsales and will include six tasting samples plus nibbles.

As we explore the term “noble grape” and how it became such an integral part of the viticultural world, we will sample six Virginia wines made from such grapes.

These will include pinot noir; cabernet sauvignon; merlot; sauvignon blanc; chardonnay; and riesling. Acting as our “spirit adviser” will be Russ Williams, former general manager of New Jersey’s White Horse Wine and Spirits, whose multi-store concern serviced the Atlantic City area. As “wine expert” on staff, he met producers and distributors; selected stock; and traveled to, among other places, Napa Valley, the Chianti region of Tuscany, and the Bordeaux. In his personal time, he and his wife, Karrie, have traveled to the central coast of California (Santa Barbara and Paso Robles), returned to Napa and Sonoma, and visited the Burgundy and Champagne regions of France.
