2018 Joan Marshall Lecture Series: Earl Swift discusses "Chesapeake Requiem"

from 10.00

7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Onancock Baptist Church

The 2018 Joan Marshall Lecture Series will kick off with veteran author and journalist Earl Swift discussing “Chesapeake Requiem,” a timely portrait of the Eastern Shore’s Tangier Island as the very water that has long sustained the 200-year-old Chesapeake Bay crabbing community is erasing the island day by day, wave by wave. Barring major intervention by the federal government, this storied place likely will succumb first among U.S. towns to the effects of climate change.

7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3. Onancock Baptist Church Family Life Center, 1 Crockett Ave., Onancock, VA.

Tickets are $10 for ESVHS members, $15 for not-yet-members. Note: Please bring a copy of your ticket purchase receipt to the event as it will serve as your ticket. You will receive the receipt via email shortly after your purchase. If you do not receive in your inbox, please check your spam folder. Call us immediately with any issues.

Books will be available for purchase on site. Swift will sign copies after the lecture.
