volunteer

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.”  - Margaret Mead, Anthropologist

The Historical Society is always in need of volunteers, whether you like interacting with the public, teaching educational programs, or digging into the Shore's rich history. If you are friendly, outgoing and love to meet new people, and if you are interested in serving your community by making a small commitment of your time, please call us. We will find a time that is convenient for you. Just a few hours each month will make such a difference!

be a docent

Be an Ambassador to History

Our docents are the everyday faces of the Historical Society, leading tours and manning the Gift Shop. Becoming a docent at Ker Place is easy—as easy as welcoming old friends into your own home. Docents receive special orientation and training to learn about local history and their knowledge is enhanced with field trips to other historic sites.
